Rationale:
Hyperbolic geometry was originally understood
as geometry of hyperbolic space forms. Recently
the notion was redefined to include CAT(0)-spaces
and other, even more outlandish objects of
metric geometry, such as Gromov hyperbolic
spaces. This approach became foundational
with many applications in geometric group theory,
topology and dynamics. We are planning to explore more
recent applications of hyperbolic geometry
in its interaction with ergodic theory.
