Practical Information

Registration

There is no registration fee to attend this conference. All talks are free to attend, however you need to register at least 2 days in advace in order to access the conference venue.

After arrival to Russia

If you plan to stay in Russia for at most 7 business days then you are not required to register with local authorities. For instance, if you arrive to Russia on June 1 and leave on June 10 then you can stay without registration. If your stay includes more than 7 business days please contact the organizers regarding registration upon your arrival.

You also have to carry passport with you at all times (this is really important).

How to get to the hotels

All three inernational airports (Sheremetievo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo) are connected to Moscow through a high-speed railway, called Aeroexpress, with moderately priced tickets (320-360 rubles, approx. $11-$12). Taxi to Moscow would cost $100-$150, and during the day it can be very slow due to traffic jams.

The Aeroexpress timetables are available from their official site: Sheremetyevo (www.aeroexpress.ru/en/sheremetyevo.html) Domodedovo (www.aeroexpress.ru/en/domodedovo.html) Vnukovo (www.aeroexpress.ru/en/vnukovo.html). The point of arrival is a rail terminal, which is connected to a subway station: Belorusskaya (âåìïòõóóëáñ) for Sheremet'yevo, Paveletskaya (ðá÷åìåãëáñ) for Domodedovo, and Kievskaya (ëéå÷óëáñ) for Vnukovo.

Information about aeroexpress tickets is available here: www.aeroexpress.ru/en/forPassengers/prices.html . You can buy a Plus Metro ticket including one subway trip.

Then you have to take subway (Moscow Metro). Here is the map of Moscow Metro (subway) upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Moscow_metro_map_en_sb.svg. The price of a subway ticket is fixed and does not depend on duration and range of the trip. It is good to buy a card for 20 subway trips to avoid standing in line. You can also pay for buses, trolleybuses and trams by this card.

The subway closes at 1:00 am, so if you come to Moscow later you will need to take a taxi. There are some useful links here www.smartmoscow.com/taxi1.htm

To get to Vavilova, 7 (÷Á×ÉÌÏ×Á, 7)

You should take brown (circle) line and change at Oktyabr'skaya (ïëôñâòøóëáñ) to the orange (Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya) line in outside the center (the direction of Novoyasenevskaya (îï÷ïñóåîå÷óëáñ)). Go to the Leninskiy Prospect (ìåîéîóëéê ðòïóðåëô) metro station. This station has two exits, take one at the head of the train. After getting outside turn right towards Vavilova street. The building (Vavilova, 7) is about 200 meters from the Leninskiy Prospect metro station on the opposite side of Vavilova street. The whole building, which is the highest building in the neighbourhood , belongs to Academy of Sciences. The entrance to the hotel is separate (from the left). It is marked with "ðÒÏÆÅÓÓÏÒÓËÁÑ çÏÓÔÉÎÉÃÁ ÷ûü" (professors' hotel of HSE). Reception is on the left from the entrance.

To get to Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya, 50 building 1 (âÏÌØÛÁÑ ðÅÒÅÑÓÌÁ×ÓËÁÑ, 50 ÓÔÒÏÅÎÉÅ 1)

You should take brown (circle) line and go to Prospekt Mira (ðòïóðåëô íéòá) metro station. A 10 minute walk along Prospekt Mira street to the north will bring you to the junction with Banny Pereulok (âáîîùê ðåòåõìïë) street (alternatively, take a trolleybus No. 9 or No. 48 to the bus stop Banny Pereulok). Turn right to the Banny Pereulok, and continue untill you reach Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya street. Turn left and go till the end of the long building on the left. The Guest House is located on the opposite side of this street.

Internet

Wireless connection is available in the rooms at Vavilova, 7 and at the lobby at Bolshaya Pereyaslavskaya, 50.

Currency exchange

The hotel does not accept credit cards either. If you need to pay for the hotel, you can do that on the second day of your stay.

For the safety reasons we suggest to use ATM and currency exchange inside the bank offices. Exchange at the airport is safe but the rates are worse than usual.

Food

The lunch for registered participants is provided by the conference and paid by HSE

There is an enormously huge hypermarket (Auchan) next to the Vavilova 7 (HSE hotel) place. The areas near the metro stations are full of small shops and fast food stands.

The Leninskiy Prospect street between Steklov and the Leninskiy Prospekt metro is a busy avenue with many kinds of shops and restaurants. To go to Leninsky Prospect from Gubkina, 8 you should follow the Gubkina street further from Vavilova; Leninsky prospect is 100-150 meters from here.

Most shops in Moscow close up very late in the evening, and many of them work during the night.

There are also many restaurants around Arbat street near IUM.
